Delicious Bakeries - Klosterbäckerei

One thing that Germany is definitely good for is delicious Bakeries full of amazing breads and desserts.

The mandelhörnchen at Klosterbäckerei on Matildestrasse were unbelievable. They are some sort of almond flour with a chewiness thats like merengue cookie. Then covered in toasted almost slices and then ends dipped in chocolate. I ate two of those, a cappuccino and a cucumber and Bree cheese on whole grain bread for breakfast. The prices were insanely cheap.

Vegetarian Food In Flensburg

It's amazing the amount of vegetarian options they have here.

At this restaurant called Cafe Central that we went to last night in Flensburg - (e:terry) at a soja schnitzel mit zigeunersoßa (soy schnitzel with gypsy sauce) which looked and had a very similar consistency to a real schnitzel. (e:joe) had a chilli burger and I had a carrot and mustard burger with pickles. Both came with salad. This wasn't even a vegetarian restaurant, just one with veggie options which is pretty amazing.

Adventure Course Day

Today we left canp and hit up Adirondack Extreme adventure course.

I am so freakin tired. (e:yesthatcasey) and I only made it up to red, the second last course. We left black for (e:joe) and (e:terry).

For the first time in weeks I had no internet service for a few days at camp until now at the adventure course while I wait for them to complete the black course. It seems like things went smoothly at work. Its nice that there are a bunch of people I can rely on.

Provincetown - Here We Come

(e:joe)'s family was going to Provincetown for vacation and we decided to tag along. Found a nice cottage with private beach space. It will be so different than the last time we were there (e:paul,31065) and were staying at a Christian Family camp.

So sad its over

Last night of a week long camping trip. It was a long journey home. Luckily part of it involved dinosaur BBQ. I already miss swimming.

Smashed up and smoothed out

Ya so despite being the most ghetto repair ever, I think it fits the criteria of no more broken rocks on the stairs. As for the porch, it was still too wet to paint it so we had to just let it dry out.

The worst day ever

So instead of going on vacation we get a letter from the insurance company that they are going to cancel our insurance on the fucking nightmare rental property unless we paint the porch and patch the concrete.

I kept holding out because I thought I would have sold it by now. After scraping the wood its rotten because there was a wet rug sitting on it. The concrete pretty much had no option but crumble off and start over.

That house has been a money pit for me. If I could start over I would have just not lived in Buffalo when it came I to my life so that this moment would not happen.

The worst vacation ever - rant

So my final two vacation days to burn up. Just before I took them I got a huge project to deal with at work for thursday. I am beyond capacity at this point and it doesn't seem to get any better.

I worked on it a bunch this weekend and then last night:
a. The windows XP machine I needed for testing had some sort of disk failure.
b. I decided to compile gnome-shell from scratch to see the latest version - which ended up taking forever.
c. I got a freakin cold. I can't believe I am sick now.

So today I spent the whole day with full-on cold, mostly napping. I am convinced it has to do with my new tooth crown - which I hate as it tastes like metal. If I realized porcelain meant, porcelain fused to cheap metal like nickel - I would have just gotten a gold tooth. Now its kind of too late. To get it off would probably make me lose my whole tooth and a good chunk of change.

Toronto Weekend - Andy C

I went to Toronto with (e:keitht) and Cindy to see Andy C at the guvernment on Friday. The very best part is that they aanounced there will be a WEMF 2011.

image

image

image

image

Here are some videos of it I found on youtube. The lights and quadrophonic sound system at the guvernment were awesome. Not quite the light show Circa had last march but the sound and space made up for it.

In the videos you can't tell at all what it sounded like because the whole thing is really based on the room shaking bass.

I also saw that Andy C has a facebook page

Speaking of Circa, I tried looking for info about it but it looks like it must have closed now. I find it so funny that their old site now links to a bed bug removal site.

image

It was quite an adventure full of extreme sensory input. My ears are still ringing now like 2 days later. We barely slept and then spent Saturday hiking around the freezing city. All in all it was quite a great time.

Sedona And Flagstaff Continued

Mount Humphrey's - I miss you. I really love flagstaff. I think I could live there a again for a bit someday. It actually had not changed very much.
image

This was the first apartment that (e:jacob), myself and eventually (e:terry) lived in. I was 15ft x 9ft.
image

And finally some pics fo Sedona - my favorite place to hike and climb around. Sedona has gown a lot and the roads have been redone. It also cost $5 for a parking pass now, but he pass is good anywhere in Sedona. Well accept for the pay places!

(e:terry) and I climbed ot the top of one of the rock formations.
The one behind (e:terry) here. Well not to the very top but around it.

image

Here we are looking off the part we climbed to. (e:matthew) was so small at the bottom that I couldn't even get him in the pic.

image

image

I remember taking this pic and seeing him in it. But now I can't find him in it. The perspective is weird but I am tooking straight down from very high up.
