More Dyke March Pics

We saw sb (e:sb,13) at the Dyke March, she rocks and so does her dance gang the Radikats? Correct me if I spelled it wrong. The main pics are on the news journal. I am also posting a link to a little video we took. Someday, if we ever have a fund raiser, we will get a streaming video server.

image

We also saw this car with lots of fibre glass food on top. What's weird is that it seemed to have no business markings. Do you think it''s just someones hobby.

image

While we were on the way down the street maidencateyes IM'ed me via my IM link in my link list under my userPic. She said that the jesus people were following the march but by the time they got down to our side of the hood, they were all gone. We'll see what's in store for tomorrow.

The rest of you should put up IM links, so we can all IM each other on the go.

Dyke March

This Picture is live from the annual dyke
march on elmwood. I took the pic with my cell phone, so sorry about the
picture quality. The picture is of the giant native ameriican statue
from the parade after it was taken down. Matthew took better ones with
the real cam, we will post them when we get home. For the first time
there were no Christian protesters, maybe its a sign for a good
weekend.

The Banner Hangs

Finally, after so much work on everybody's part, the banner is hanging outside. Basically, thanks to the excellent sewing skills of Jill. Jill, I bought you a special something for all your help. Are you guys coming by tonight for tee-shirt making. Michael, also bring your video camera, if you come by so we can practice the interviews.

Jill came over with Mike and the gang last night and by this morning when I woke up, the banner was done. It is truly amazing. I ended up sewing tabs all around it to hang it because I didn't want to hurt the nylon in any way. It is really perfect.

There are more new people already, now we have jafafahots, buffalolbs, and metalpeter.

I went to JoAnnes and bought more rip stop nylon on sale to make another banner for the other end of elmwood. This one will be red and white. After sewing the tabs today I feel confident with the sewing machine. Who would have every thought that computer programming would lead to sewing.

I also made a ~1000 copies of the little "ugly" bookmark flyers, thanks to help from flacideness and his exacto cutting abilities.

Here;s the banner still in the design phase on the computer in 3D, where it stayed for one year.

image

Here are the letters being cut out and placed on the banner

Here are Terry and Matthew hanging the banner up outside.

I have no picture of Jill sewing, do you Jill?!?!

I gotta go the dyke march is coming!

New peeps on the e:strip

It's nice to see so many new peeps on the site. Welcome aboard 1oldathiest, maidencateyes, floppydonkey, springfaire and beast.

Maidecateyes, your story sound insane. I would be so mad. Are you going to get your money back? If he fucks you over, you should publish his name company and then people won't go there.

Mike and I spent the whole day making more flyers for the pride parade on Sunday, it goes right down elmwood, and should be fun.

Giant Elmwood Banner
Then I started cutting out the letters for the mega-banner. It's is a giant twelve feet by two feet and white with black letters. It looks kind of like newspaper title.

I have wanted to make the banner since last year. I first designed the letters in 3D on the computer and then created a grid in the 3D program. Then I transfered the grid via chalk to rip stop nylon. Then I drew out the letters, matthew helped out. Which leads me to Jill. I tried for about an hour to get the bobbin wound on the sewing machine. I couldn't do it. I mean I can program any high tech computer crap but when it comes to a sewing machine, its out of my league. I got so frustrated with the bobin that I decided to try and wind it by hand, which seemed to work ok but took about 20 minutes.

So I knew Jill was out with my brother and I called her to ask for help with how to install the bobin. She could clearly hear my frustration and offered to help out. So Jill came over with Teres, MK and mike. Then southernyankee, matthew and mike went for a walk. Terry hung out with MK and talked about choir while Jill and I pinned the hell out of the letters on the banner.

Then she took it home. I hope it works out. I love you JIll, you saved my life. Check out Lafayette and Elmwood tomorrow evening and see what its all about.

MSN search

I was trying to submit a page from the site to MSN search and it told me I had to upgrade my browser to do so. Why is Microsoft so obnoxious. Honestly, Mozilla Firefox has done me more good than IE ever has.

Wow this search engine thing is crazy

You guys have to try it. Simply type your username plus elmwood into the google prompt. So for example, I tested elmwood liz and liz's journal comes up number one. It is kind of weird now that you become your username. Not everyone comes up number one, but I think everyone comes up on page one.

If your username is your name then it gets really personal because according to google, which is the defacto factualizer, you are in fact elmwood liz. So much for anonymity.

If you really want to get personal go ahead and type a journal entry with your name in it or other identifying facts. Google begins to search your journal and it adds the the persona you create online. I tested it earlier last week and already Paul Visco shows up on google as well. Luckily, the pictures do not. I have them masked simply as dated number strings. If you guys want this changed please tell me.

Try asking some other search engine about the elmwood strip. For example I asked jeeves Who is paul on the elmwood strip or What is the elmwood strip and there are lots of results.

Or at yahoo is the weirdest one. For some reason Yahoo likes to cache specific journal entries more than google. Google seems to like to cache just the username so it takes you to the latest journal. Try typing paul on the elmwood strip into yahoo or just click here

It brings you to my first audio blog. How does it choose that over every other one!!!

Stickboy's Pic and the Pink amd Pink

Stickboy, I support you having a picture of yourself but this picture doesn't do you justice. You look way hotter in real life. Does anyone else agree with this? Support yourself and change the pic.

image

On another note, we saw everyone out at the pink tonight and I did a ton of advertising. I finally handed out the flyers that I was embarrassed to hand out. I thought they were the worst graphic design I ever made, but I only had a photocopier to work with so give me some credit. Here is the color original.

image

Jill, Teres, Mike, and I spent the night advertising via chalk which lead to a night of advertising with flyers and markers. I hope someone reading this decides to start a journal, chalk advertisment is now a choice for your sign up referral.

image

I love for mobile blogging. I wish my cell phone cam only had a flash. I guess I could carry and external one around but it seems impractical. I would be the first to buy a cell phone cam with a flash.

Southern Yankee found her hottest man in pink at the pink and he walked her home? I hope so at least. Maybe they will watch some space porn?

By the way Stickboy and Keith, I think you know each other from a weird towing experience. Maybe you can meet up and figure it out.

Eating at Merlins

Tonight we went to Merlins on the corner of Breckenridge and Elmwood in celebration of the new spell checking capabilities on the site.

image

We ordered 2 dozen steamer clams and corn on the cob. It looks tasty, as you can see below.

image

On the wall there is an award and article about Merlins being chosen as the Artvoice reader's choice clam bar, I agree, accept for the wait. I bet the wait would be easier if we were drinking like everybody else.

image

Big clams are better than little ones, they fill you up. They also have snow crab legs, a bunch of different types of oysters, shrimp, lobster
dainties, clams casino, oysters rockefeller, and dungeness crab.

As they say in Germany. "it tastes."

Using the Site on the Sly via Email

A lot of you seem concerned about adding entries or reading the site while at work. That is why I created the email system a couple weeks ago. The email system allow you to both read the last ten journal entries or post a journal entry including attached pictures using only your email. This looks a lot less scandalous than the web. For instructions, check out the Info page, which shows up every time you log into the site. Or simply click here [inlink]info,7[/inlink].

Finally Spell Checking

I am so glad that i spent about 12 hours straight developing the spell check. I am so angry that the stupid ISP could not install the pspell libraries for PHP.

image

I was tired of waiting though, as I requested it about 3 months ago, so I went ahead and built my own spell checking class and functions. I assembled about 400,000 english words into a mysql database dictionary, and you'll can add to it, using the spell check function. For instructions see the most current news article [inlink]news,319[/inlink]
