NYC in the Winter

So it seem sthat it snowed a lot in NYC last weekend. People were freaking out whenever I read about it. I kind of just laugh at it cause they can't possibly know how bad it can really be. And what's up with Buffalo having no snow. That kind of freaks me out global warming style. Jessica (hodown) moved to NYC to escape it and look and see for yourself.

Where did I get this photo from? I was searching on google querying "torn photo." One of the results was the page of an artist who had a blog where this picture was. The reason it was linked to him was because of his gallery of "torn shirt photos." It seems that he started a blog a while back in order to promote his art/life. Then he decided to start making and selling pron of himself. I found it quite amusing. It kind of reminded me of the underwear sales business, for those of you that rememeber that.

I am going to include a link to his site because I think it is another demonstration of how people use blogs as a virtual reflection of themselves on the web. It is not all nudity but the parts that are, are pretty riske.

Once on the site you can choose where to go - so ITS ALL IN YOUR HAND, I CLAIM NO RESPONSIBILTY FOR ANY ONE WHO LOOKS AT THIS AND IS OFFENDED BY THE SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MATERIAL OR GETS CAUGHT AT WORK. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOURSELF.

For the rest of you that will find this amusing or an interesting study into wweb phenomena check it out:

Liebe verschwunden. Ist mir aber egal.

I messed everything up really bad for a bit. I want to move to a local server. The star thing is not 100% yet, the server is in Arizona so everything was off by 3 hours.

Italian Citizen Ship

I freakin' qualify this is going to change my life. Nothing has ever been so life altering. This is really funny because both my grandparents and my mother came on a ship and now I want my Italian citizenship back. I think its really going to happen.

Computer Roots

Here I am proving that I was a computer dork since a young age. It all started with my VIC 20 which made way for the Commodore 64. Unfortunately, that was it for me, my parents never made the move to the Commodore 128 or a PC until I was way to old and out of the loop. Maybe if they had I would have been a programmer with lots of money instead of the pre-professor with a German and Fine Arts degree.

more pics from mommy

This is a little weird but Jessica and I were on a Vegan kick for lots of years and I think the lack of protein started to affect my head. This was my favorite logo from the hardline kids. It was basically, stop eating meat or die. Hahahahaha
image

This is a complete opposite. Kristina took this as a self portrait for photo class. A t least I think so, somehwo over like 10 years it ended up at my parents house and now its on the web. Its one of those things where people say you never know when your pic is going to unknowningly show up on the web. Sorry Kristina, I couldn't resist.

Jessica and I

My mom sent me a bunch of pics that I thought would be interesting to some people that read my journal.
This picture is at Jessica's mom's wedding back in the 90s. Its hard to believe seeing as in the pic we look like its a whole other era. Damn she looks cute.

This one is of a McDonalds, after Jessica and I destroyed it in teenage fits of rage. We broke the drivethrough completely, spray painted the building, and then proceded to salt all of the gardens at the McDonalds with rocksalt. You should have seen the garden about two weeks later when everything died and turned crispy brown. I loved 1996!

Thank You Germans

So I bought the T-mobile sideKick that I keep talking about. Now I need a sideJob to pay for the sideKick. I seems like the logical next step in my cyborgian evolution. I will be able to communicate from anywhere. Thats pretty exciting, even though its $29.00/month. Its kind of like the next level of communication. I am most excited about developing content for it on my new server. Here is what elmwood could look like on on. I am most excited about being able to updat emy journal from anywhere.

I actually debated betwen this and a crrazy bluetooth phone that let my laptop on the internet. The problem with the phone was that it had no keyboard. This I would have to type every message with the stupid number pad. That just was not happening for me. Especially, if I was going to type whole journal entries.

Some people complained that there was not a lot of content avaible for the sideKick but it lets you visit any web site so I figured they were limited only in that they could not create their own content. Also, it doesn't let you sync with you comp. But that only if you expected to sync via USB wire or bluetooth. I can just make a web site which retains all my info and which I can update too. I am seriously freakin' excited.

The other downfall of the sideKick was the lack of j2ME java but they just signed a contract with Sun Microsystems to get it on the sideKick. So basically, it is all I every really wanted for this year.

Rachel's Birthday Party

We went to Rachel's Birthday party last night. Rachel is really fun, I truly miss her but somehow we almost never end up hanging out. Before, on our end, it was cause we were trying to avoid shawn as he was "bad for our health" but now there is no reason other than laziness and difficulty in breaking out of our normal social patterns. Hopefully that will change once she starts a journal and read about her life all the time! Rachel, if you are reading this - thanks fr deciding to start one I am really excited to read it.

It was nice to see people who I havent seen in a long time. One of them was someone who I happend to stop being friend with on bad terms. But that was liek 7 years ago. Jessica, if you are reading this, it was Christian.

Well, he seemed pretty relaxed compared to how I remembered him. I didn't have much to say. Apparently, he joined the coast guard and was in school at Buffalo State for high school education richtung Social Studies. Well, I have so many problems with the idea of people who I considered intelligent joining the military but had no interest in starting any so of political discussion, as me and Terry had decided to make it a no-political debate evening. Usually everything we end up doing leads to some sort of political debate and we were just going to chillax (yes I has appropriated that word from "Hodown" <- the orginator)

Rachel told me that while he was doing his tour of duty at West Point that he met this German girl and then brought her with him, back to buffalo. Terry, Matt and I had had her as a waitress at the Indian place on elmwood. I remmeber saying she seems pretty cool, and wondering what she is doing in Buffalo. How small a world is it that Christian brought her here!

Oh well, they were cute together. Somehow she kind of reminded me of Ms. Gerber, but more personable.

I spoke with Dawn for the longest time, she is great as usual. I don't mean great like happy, but great to see. I always have fun talking with her. She told me about how she came to the realization that she was a bitch and it made her happy. I think, more power to her. She would really get along with my brother. Her sister also joined the army. That was also totally surprising, I mean I do not knwo anyone in the armed forces besides one of my students. I figure that everyones life must have either gotten really bad or their parents made them do it. The other alternative, that it was for school money, makes me sick. That is the veilest thing that you can do. I mean think about it, you are saying that you might possibly kill innocent civilians in order to pay for school. That is seriously shaking hand with the devil. If you look carefully at the picture below you can see the reflection of the devil in the coast card placard.

image

I talked to Kristin Neinhaus too, who I also really like. She is just a honest, caring type of person but I guess before I got there someone was telling her the ebay underwear story so I was kind of embarassed while talking to her which made it slightly awkward. Too bad I felt I had more to say.

Terry, Holly, and TK got a little out of control, especially Terry but he was funny so it worked out. Rachel said he was singing drunk, which was cute so it was ok. My old friends probably think my new friends are insane but whatever, I have always been a crazy one and I got to try fondue for the first time.

If I think of my other old friends, they are all as crazy as me. Especially Sara R- the closest thing I ever had to a sister.

I love Holly, that all I have to say about that - well maybe a little more. She makes every situation dealable. I hope she doesn't thinkk that we ar ebrigning her life down. I am personally going to freak when she is in Europe, if she goes. I don't ever want to part with her, especially after we discovered that w
e are both bad at email. I would say well we
